I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Minnesota. My research focuses broadly on American criminal punishment, with a subfocus on gender. My dissertation uses a mixed-methods approach to explore an underutilized form of mercy in US criminal justice. For more details about my current research projects click here. In addition to my academic scholarship, I am passionate about bringing research into policy. I serve on the Advisory Board for Children of Incarcerated Caregivers and as an Advisor for the Prison Scholars Fund.
